Hi
I have a few Shelly devices that have poor WiFi signal. Thought about using another Shelly device with a good signal as a range extender / access point (actual functionalities of the device for exactly that purpose). It works well in Shelly’s own environment but not with HA. For some reason the Shelly devices doesn’t just bridge the connection and extend the current network. Id creates its own network with its own SSID and DHCP pool. The device assigned IP isn’t accessable from my current network - for that I need to connect to the AP IP with a specific port (for example the AP has IP 192.168.1.103 then to connect to the device that is connected to the AP, I’ll have to use IP 192.168.1.103:11844).
So to configure the Shelly device in HA, I’ll have to specify the IP and Port but then I’ll get a MAC conflict from HA. I guess its logical since HA has already registered the AP with this MAC and doesn’t see the actual MAC behind the AP.
Has anyone gotten it to work like this? Or does anyone have an idea how to get it to work? Shelly support says “Sorry, we don’t now how HA handles things and tor to them”.
