Shelly EM on individual appliances?

Is it possible to use a Shelly EM pn an individual appliance as opposed to in the fuse box ?

I want to monitor my Electric Oven, it is hard wired into a cooker socket so can’t use a smart plug type of affair.

Ive already got monitoring on pretty much everything else , including whole house draw, but it is just this appliance which eludes me.

There is a spare 13amp socket I could pull a feed from off a plug for the unit itself, and then just clamp round the cooker supply.

Would this work ?

OR

Would I be better off seeing if I can get a 1PM Plus in the oven supply box that it is hard wired into?

EDIT - doesnt look like any of the inbox relays would be man enoguh for an elevctric oven

You’d have to split the feed wire.

You might find that the oven has its own circuit breaker in the fusebox. The EM could be installed there.

Not sure what you mean here…I was looking at just clamping the feed from wall socket to oven, and supplying the EM with power from a 13amp plug, and maybe put it all in a nice little box)

My fusebox is in need of a serious upgrade, its still got the old pull out with a bit of fuse wire in a creamic tube kind of thing. The thought of messing around in there doesn’t fill me with confidence, Really need to get it all upgraded.

There’s I think one possible reason why this won’t work: “the two measured circuits and the Shelly EM must be on the same phase” (Shelly Shop USA, not mentioned in the manual )

But it’s likely you only have a 1-phase supply, so it should work.

hmmmm…yes single phase here. so ‘may’ work…

Ill order one I think and give it a go. Ican always move it on if it doesnt work

Afaik the split transformer only clamps one conductor.

ahhhh…yea mean like 1 of the 3 wires in the power cable ?

Well it all turned up today so ill see what I can do with it or have a re-think if not

Did this work for you?

Didn’t try , its still the box

Did this work? or Still in the box??
Would also like to monitor oven consumption and compare to air fryer consumption.

Yes it will work for sure.

Had a complete Kitchen refit and re-wiring in the end ( not for this problem, it just needed doing) so as part of that specced out Shelly 1PM’s on every socket and appliance and as I also needed a new fuse box to supply new feeds ( switched from Gas to Electric) has the EM installed in the fusebox. The Induction Hob doesnt report very well, but the Oven is fine.
