I did a clean install of home assistant 0.115.3 and currently I am tying to add my shellies with the new integration.
The shellies are getting auto discovered but trying to add them results in “Failed to connect”.
There is no entry written in home-assistant.log so I don’t have a hint to the problem.
I’m running Home Assistant Core 0.115.3 via virtualenv on a Raspberry Pi 4.
Thanks for your help!
Is your Shelly’s firmware v1.8 or greater ?

yes, it is 20190808-100802
That firmware is over 12 months old.
I’d doubt it’s 1.8 or greater.
Update your firmware and try the integration again.
Also, what flavour of Shelly is it ?
You are right! I misinterpreted the “100802”.
I’m using Shelly 1 and Shelly 2.5
Currently the device tells me that no newer firmware is available…
Strange…

How did you have your Shelly’s added to HA prior to the integration ?
I use MQTT. Tested the integration but the switch input wasn’t added as an entity for the Shelly1, so I’ll continue to use MQTT
Got it. The Shelly couldn’t connect to the update server. I used another network for upgrading to 1.8.3 and now the Home Assistant connection works.
I also used MQTT beforehand but wanted to give the integration a try
