Hi,
I recently started looking into using Shelly Plug S for monitoring power usage on a couple devices. Now it looks like Shelly has discontinued the Plug S, since they no longer list them on their website. So the only option available by Shelly would be their “Shelly Plug”. Does anyone have any experience with them? My highest priority is monitoring and recording the power consumption. Switching is secondary to me.

Thanks for the link. I live in Germany, so I can’t use any US only options sadly. I originally chose the Shelly Plug S because I intend to run Homeassistant in a container on my NAS without access to Zigbee or Z-Wave and I don’t want to modify the house wiring because I’m renting the place. So a simple WiFi-based plug would be a low entrance barrier.
From what I read, the Shelly Plug S seemed simple and had all the features I needed. The problem with the “Shelly Plug” is, that I don’t know if it is supported. The integration page for Shelly only says there are two generations of devices, but it doesn’t further explain which devices belong to which generation or how to determine to which generation a device belongs. Can you help me understand what I’m looking for?
Both of them support MQTT, so both can work with HA without problems. You are right, i can’t find them on the german site, but in austria it is listed and in the moment you can buy it in a lot of shops in germany.
As the S is a lot smaller and more cheap you should order some now as long as they are to get 
Just look for WIFI enabled (so not Zigbee) plugs at amazon, there are numerous available, depending on your specific need.

It all comes down to what you want, and how far you’re willing/able to go. The Ledvance above is flashable with Tasmota, but you need to open the housing and maybe solder one or two pins. But that’s only, if you want to flash Tasmota and not use the original software.
Thanks for the hint. I don’t mind having to solder and flashing a custom firmware, but that obviously introduces more potential issues. To start with, I would like to have a simple “plug&play” style solution so I don’t have to start debugging my HA configuration, my plugs and everything in between at the same time 
FYI: I did search online for Tasmota and Ledvance and it looks like they did change the chip inside the plug and it is no longer compatible. Either way, I’ll keep Tasmota in mind as a good alternative!

I had previously seen them on their homepage and added them to list of links but yesterday I realized the link was broken and you cannot find them using the search function either. It appears to only be a problem for the German version of the page.
Ok, never tried that. It was just I received a promotional email from them yesterday, for the 5 pack.
Update:
I sent an email to [email protected] and the replied with the following line:
We are experiencing warehouse problems for Germany and thus – indeed – there is not delivery for that device. We are really sorry about the inconvenience and strongly advice you to follow our newsletter for more news. We are sure shortly the problem will be solved and you can order it in Germany as well.
So I guess they didn’t discontinue the charger and it is only a temporary thing. Though I am confused why they did take down the whole site instead of marking it as out of stock.
Either way, I’m updating the title to not confuse anyone.
