At least add mute to temporary turn off alarm remotely. In case of false alarm to not make neighbor’s listen alarm next few days if I am away from home. Alarm can be mounted in attic in very hard accessible place to turn if off manually. Attic can have ease false positive alarms. This options are in Shelly app and device has it implemented. It is missing in HA.
This option is implemented in the device and accessible in Shelly app.
If someone don’t want the option, then buy another device on the first place or don’t use it / disable this entity in HA.
Please keep comments in the context of technical implementation. Please don’t make here discussion telling other people how they should live. If someone is an idiot to turn off alarm when there is a fire and do nothing, then nature do the right work.
Please back to implementation discussion.
PS There can be false positives: for example attic where smoke from outside and polluted air easy go inside. So the option make sense for me, for other people and even Shelly itself implemented it. Not even mentioning alarm in attic is hard accessible to turn off manually.
You asked for an implementation of a feature of one device type based on the feature of a different device type.
There are specific fire laws applied per country (even at EU level). Most of these so not allow remotely disabling a fire alarm until you can physically check the affected environment. Would you want to lose your house and family because your neighbour installed a smoke alarm but removed the siren so it didn’t annoy you?
Please adjust your expectations accordingly. Thank you.
PS. Forgot to add that if this is implemented Shelly might be exposing themselves to legal liability. I wouldn’t get my hopes up
Spoiler alert. None of the other smoke alarm lets you do that for the specific reasons I mentioned.
Do you want to keep on trolling so the mods will have more reasons to ban you, or will you reread what I wrote and understand it cannot be done for legal reasons?
In US probably, but I don’t live there, so I don’t care about your rules. You are the one who trolling.
it cannot be done for legal reasons?
Image there are people living on earth who don’t live in US (my best guess). I live in EU and I ensure you I don’t even need smoke alert in my house. Trust me I know better my law, than you. So once again: not true.
The device itself and Shelly app have it, so stop being clever than others and treat the company and other people like idiots. End of the discussion.
PS Maybe Shelly has US version I don’t know and I don’t care. I have my version in EU.
I agree that you must be extremely careful to remotely or automatically mute a smoke detector. You should always investigate a smoke alarm or call out your emergency services if it’s too dangerous.
