Short Press doesn't work (yet double press and long press does)

Anyone know why this would be the case? I have a ThirdReality Zigbee button connected via ZHA to a Sonoff dongle.

I have a simple automation for our bedside buttons. The double-press and hold work just fine. Short press doesn't even register. I can tell what is registered in the automation editor.

If you open the device page in HA & look at the Activity section on the right, do you see anything coming up when you do a single press the button? If so, you can definitely automate against it.
