Simple way to control switch via temp sensor and card?

I have a bunch of temp sensors and smart switches.

I’d like to be able to set a temp in the dashboard and when the associated sensor says the temp is below that, a switch turns on the heater. When it gets above that temp, it turns off again.

Seems like a pretty simple usecase, but all the examples I’ve managed to find are either from 3+ years ago, or have stunningly complicated setups involving window sensors, automatic schedules, guest settings and more.

I saw that there’s something called generic thermostat, but it doesn’t seem to have a dashboard card to set the temp.

Can anyone recommend a simple way of making a card to set the temp in the dashboard, that just turns a switch on and off based on a sensor?
Thanks!

Its what the generic thermostat is for.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw generic_thermostat already. What I didn’t see was how to set the target temperature on the dashboard. It looked like something where the temp is configured in yaml but then users can’t easily change.

Any ideas where to start? I’m happy to research. Just without something specific to look up, the results are flooded by a million posts on things like smart thermostats.

Hi, have you seen this card: Thermostat card - Home Assistant
