SimpliSafe integration setup problem

The 2021.11.0 update provides a new way to integrate with SimpliSafe including step-by-step instructions outlining the proper integration method. Unfortunately, my results do not match the instructions. After receiving the verification email from SimpliSafe, I do not receive an error page but rather a verification successful page. There is no code on the first web page as per the instructions. There is a code on the second web page, however, entering this code in the HA integration page results in a verification failed message.

I’ve tried this from my desktop browser as well as my Android phone with the same results.

I’ve restored my 2021.10.7 environment as that continues to work with SimpliSafe.

Same issue. Also rolled back.

I finally got this to work.

  1. I first had to activate 2FA (two factor authentication) on my SimpliSafe account.
  2. Followed the instructions in Home Assistant to log onto my SimpliSafe account.
  3. After getting the email and entering the email code the first page remained open (no second page).
  4. I pressed F12 to open developers tools on the browser, selected “Console”.
  5. Found the code in one of the error lines. I had to copy the URL to notepad to be able to cut and paste the code into the Home Assistant prompt.

Everything seems to be working now. A bit convoluted, but it got the job done.

This isn’t working for me.
When I enter the 6 digit code, the and hit “continue” the page just stops responding.
I tried going to the developer tools “Console” and it was empty – no errors.

Spoke too soon. I didn’t see the error message in the “console” tab, but I did find it in the “network” tab.

After that, I was able to copy the URL and extract the code.

Thanks!

Saved the day for me, thanks @ingrove!

Also saved me! Thanks @ingrove !

Thanks, @ingrove! It didn’t initially work correctly for me because Firefox gives the error:

The character encoding of the plain text document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the file needs to be declared in the transfer protocol or file needs to use a byte order mark as an encoding signature.

This error prevented FF from processing the https://auth.simplisafe.com/continue?state=(removed) URL and displaying the code. Fortunately Edge processed the URL. It also wouldn’t continue because:

Failed to launch '(URL)' because the scheme does not have a registered handler. That (URL) contained the code that allowed me to authenticate.

After messing around for two hours to get a browser which showed me the code, I got it to work.

It lasted about 12 hours and asked me to authenticate again. I did the process again. Let’s see how long it works this time.

I tried Firefox on Linux and Firefox doesn’t give you the code. I ended up getting to to work by using chrome on Windows. I also had problems with chrome on Linux.

F12 and looking under “Network” worked for us as well!

Thanks,

This worked for me as well. In console copy the long text after the word code
