Simultaneous zigbee networks - zha & z2m

i’ve got a zha network and also a z2mqtt network set up… z2m is running… zha disabled… my problem is that even though i disabled joining everywhere i can find, but they keep picking up each other’s devices… particularly z2m snatching zha devices away… running on an rPi with sonoff dongle P… one on channel 15, one on 25… how can i keep the devices separate?

Use a different network key on each network, and disable join.

Unless you set the two keys to be the same they can’t take each others’ devices.

I have two networks (ZHA and Deconz) and the devices stay on the network I added them to. However, in the device info, if I manually unpair/repair a device to move it to the other network, then it will list both integrations since it remembers the network ID from the last network. That doesn’t mean it is on both networks, though.

Also make sure that you do not have enabled permit_join: true in your configuration.yaml for Zigbee2MQTT or else devices in pairing/joining mode will automatically pair/join to the Zigbee2MQTT network i,e, it makes the Zigbee2MQTT Zigbee Gateway always remain in pairing/joining mode instead of for only a limited time when set, which actually goes against the Zigbee specification which state that should not be active longer than 60 seconds at a time for security reasons), see → https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/usage/pairing_devices.html#configuration-yaml-not-recommended

Note that better to ask Zigbee2MQTT questions on their in community forum here → Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt · Discussions · GitHub

i suspect that’s my primary problem… lol… so far i’ve worked very hard at not messing with yaml files… but since i’m doing eufy cameras and the envisalink interface… it would appear that my time has come… thank you kind sir!

this may make me look like a numbskull… “keys” are where in config? Are you referring to the original dongle setup? or something else??

Much to my own amazement, i’ve got them both running concurrently! Thanks for your help, everyone!

Just a kindly reminder that asking questions about Z2M on these forums is allowed.

@petro Yeah I know that you allow it, but I do not think that practice is a good idea, nor do I believe it was the original intent with this subforum, see my comments here → Suggestion: "Zigbee" sub-forum (equivalent to the "Z-Wave" subforum) here?

Please stop pushing people away. They are allowed to ask questions and remain here. We purposely added tags for Zigbee2MQTT in the zigbee category. So you’re gut feeling about the original intent is not correct.
