Since setting up Pihole on the same desktop - a few integration components have stopped working

Hi all,

I was initially following the steps in the below thread from 6 years ago, as this seems closely related to the issue I’m having:

I’ve already added a comment on this thread, however what I am trying to achieve is to re-upload my static IPv4 settings via a file stored on my USB drive (plugged in to the desktop running Home Assistant and Pihole), but later found that the button to “Import from USB” was removed in a 2023 update.

Have then tried since to do an import using the Home Assistant CLI and use command “ha os import”, but returns with this error:

Error: ‘OSManager.config_sync’ blocked from execution, no Home Assistant OS available

Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but happy to share logs or the system details if needed - please let me know.

I’m using a Lenovo SFF desktop which is running Debian 12 and Home Assistant Supervised, version 2024.10.3. Pihole is also running in tandem on the same machine.

Integration components include my Reolink cameras not picking up any feeds using the Frigate cards, Google Home devices are showing as unavaliable and one of my LED strips which was on Home Assistant no longer works.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Change the DNS in HA to something else, like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

I’ve just tried this, inbetween restarting HA each time I’ve changed the DNS addresses in the HA CLI, but didn’t seem to work unfortunately. I’ve also tried remapping the cameras via the Device Settings manually as a test, but it’s failing to connect:

I’ve also tried checking Pihole’s query log, but found nothing in there. Any further advice please?

A workaround would be removing pihole at the router level and configuring it per device instead.

That’s a fair shout, although I might leave that on the backburner though, as I’m not actively using HA as intensively. More of a playground as I’m trying to cover the basics of how it all works etc. Thanks for the suggestion though
