Single colour LED strip, manual switch/dimmer and zigbee relay/switch/dimmer

Hi.

I currently control a LED strip via the existing switch (24V dimmer/switch penetrating wood):

The setup is simple: |220->24 V adapter| with red/black output wires connecting to red/black input wires on the |dimmer/switch| with the red/yellow output wires connecting to the red/black input wires on the |LED strip|.

I want to control this setup also via a Zigbee switch/relay.

What are my options?

Thanks, mkljun

Since I cannot add more than one picture per post I will use reply to add more context.

I bought this:

which works as a switch/dimmer in HA but I cannot use my existing wood penetrating switch.

I also bought this:

which I haven’t received yet. But AFAIK I will just be able to turn it on/off via HA and not dim it.

With the components you have, I don’t see any.
Your “wood penetrating” dimmer can not be used as input for those zigbee devices, so you can’t synch them together.

Can you dim your Tuya controlled LEDs down to zero? Is this working in HomeAssistant?

What is a “wood penetrating switch”?

Your blue box looks like a ZigBee relay/switch device, not a dimmer. This should be able to be set up to work in HomeAssistant.

What do you want to do?

I can dim the WZ1 to 0 light.

“Wood penetrating switch/dimmer” is basically a capacittive sensor that can be placed below the e.g. desk and controlled by tapping the top of the desk. “Wood penetrating” is not a correct term (sorry for not being more specific). But the sensor senses the gestures through materials.

You are correct. The blue box is a relay/switch device and not a dimmer. With it I would be able to turn on/off the LED in HA, while also use the existing capacitive sensor to turn on/off the LED as well as dim. (At least this is my assumption)

I want control the LED:

  • manually (switch/dimm) via a similar capacivive sensor that can sense gestures through material
  • do the same via HA.

Is this even possible?

Out of the box with that hardware, no.
With some testing and tinkering, if you are lucky, maybe…

Thank you! I’ll try to thinker then and If I come with a plausible solution post it here.

First you need to open the touch dimmer casing to see if the PCB has jumpers to set it in simple switch mode.
If it’s like this you have some chances…
