Skin: LCARS (star trek) beta

thanks for noticing. ill changed it.
is the stardate sensor still in home assistant?
or did you take it out of the dashboard?

let me know if i can help you with anything else.
and your welcome.

I donā€™t know what happened to the stardate sensor but a simple restart of appdaemon fixed that problem

the stardate sensor is only updated once a day and when you start AD its created.
but if you restart HA it will dissapear again untill you restart AD.

Is this wee beasty still alive Jim?

might need a very small adjustment. but not much

okay, Iā€™ll try the installation steps on my pi. Thanks :grinning:

when you get into trouble, just ask and ill take a look at it.

H guys, just stumbled across this, but have no idea how to move forward :frowning:
I have seemingly a folder named \192.168.2.xxx\config\custom_css\lcars with the several files Folders

How do I run or access this on my tablet (I have yet to make any changes to my variables file.Any help greatly appreciated regards newbie keith well uneducated Keith Please be gentle

look at the appdaemon docs for skins.

you can activate the skin on a premade dashboard (appdaemon HAdashboard, not the dashboard from HA) by putting ?skin=lcars behind your dashboard url.

Cheers, i have installed appdaemon, there is a slight issue with that im trying to work through ā€œWARNING HASS: Disconnected from Home Assistant, retrying in 5 secondsā€ but im trying this url: http://192.168.2.248:5050/lcars/?skin=lcarsl1024 (juist to keep it local) and my appdaemon config is:

Blockquote

#secrets: /config/secrets.yaml
appdaemon:
latitude: 52.379189
longitude: 4.899431
elevation: 2
time_zone: Europe/london
plugins:
HASS:
type: hass

  ha_url: http;//192.168.2.248:8123
  token:
  app_initi_delay: 20

http:
url: http://192.168.2.248:5050
ha_key: Keith
admin:
api:
hadashboard:

that wont work, but if you use the addon you normally dont need to add the url and token.

Cool so i have fixed my typo :frowning:
ha_url: http://192.168.2.248:8123 im getting no errors now in the log, how do i point the browser to my CSS cheers

you need to create a dashboard (see appdaemon docs)
then you can reach the dashboard with:
http://192.168.2.248:5050/dashboard_name
and then you can see the dashboard with a skin with
http://192.168.2.248:5050/dashboard_name?skin=skin_name

and i believe i added some example dashboards to work with.

cheers ill do more reading thanks for the help
that is already much clearer

Hi, Iā€™m having some trouble and wondering what I am missing or have missed. Iā€™m guessing this is a rights or a path issue. In the appdaemon log I get (an extract not the whole log)

I think most if not all of the variables.yaml are listed? Iā€™m getting myself in knots trying to understand. Iā€™m ignoring the stardate calculation for moment and have commented then out.

In appdaemon\custom_css\lcars I have my variables.yaml and dashboard.css, both of which I copied from github and then edited for my sensors, switches, etc. Iā€™ve copied files into img and font from github without changes. Iā€™ve restarted HA ā€œmanyā€ times today, many timesā€¦

Help, Iā€™m about to take my confusion out on some wineā€¦

Chris

what version from appdaemon do you use?
how do you call your dashboard in the browser (url)?
how does your dashboard look?

Hi Rene, thanks for the help.

Iā€™ve installed appdaemon just for this dashboard, version installed is 0.10.0.
URL is http://HA IP:5050/lcars?skin=lcars.
And hereā€™s what I see.

Chris

Is there an error in the example dashboard.css? In the .widget section either a missing { or an additional }.

Iā€™m trying to work the wine out of system, not sure this is the best process for doing so!

Chris

appdaemon has versions like 4.1.0
so i think you showed the addon version?

i think that the pictures are on the wrong place, because AD changed somethings since i wrote the skin.

whats also possible is that when you copied the files the filerights were not set correct for appdaemon.

if you open the dashboard in google chrome, you can use the browser console to find out what errors there are. ( CTRL SHIFT J)

and you need to add and activate the startdate app, or else youll need to remove it to avoid errors.

the forum here is hard to support this, and im not on the AD discord anymore, but you could join here

and i will help you there.

Hi Renetode - it looks like that discord link expired. Iā€™d love to join and participate in the learning/development of this project

Disregard, found it! Itā€™s listed at the bottom the HA LCARS page once you install it.
