Sky Connect is a failure…buyer beware!

As many others have done, I purchased a Sky Connect…thinking it would be flawless integration and operation.
The integration was flawless with Zigbee2MQTT, but that’s where the positive ended.
The first handful of Aqara sensors connected without issue. Quickly became having to have the sensor within inches of the Sky Connect…to no other devices would connect.
The Sky Connect was initially installed with the included USB extension, then moved further away with a long extension and added a powered USB hub.
With more than half of my sensors not connecting, I bailed on Sky Connect.
Installed my Sonoff with ZHA and every sensor is connecting immediately from their use locations.
Don’t waste your money on Sky Connect…until the product becomes usable. And BTW, Ameridroid will not provide full refunds…one more reason to stay with devices which are proven!

Did you bother doing any troubleshooting? Check for interference? Adjust channel?

I switched from nortek to skyconnect and had minor issues. The default channel for skyconnect is different than others and the default may be crowded or have something causing significant interference. I adjusted the channel and paired everything roughly where they would be used and have had no issues in weeks.

Working perfectly here with Z2M, also with Aqara.

Mine works flawlessly.

You didn’t ask for any help, just posted a disparaging post.

Perhaps you didn’t read that skyconnect is experimental for z2m Supported Adapters | Zigbee2MQTT

Then you compare it to a different device but running on different zigbee software. Very scientific.

You are correct, I did not ask for any help…because it wasn’t needed. I ran the Sky Connect on ZHA as well…same issues.
So yes, it’s as scientific as one can get…without being in a lab.
If the only variable is Sky Connect vs Sonoff…lead me in a the preferred direction and I will gladly give it a shot!!
