SkyConnect and HUSBZB compatibility

I am currently using an ODROID device with a HUSBZB zigbee/zwave dongle on it. In preparing for new matter devices, if I get the SkyConnect Matter/zigbee dongle will I need remove the HUSBZB, or can they both be used?

If I replace the HUSBZB with a SkyConnect, will I have to redo all of the programs for my zigbee devices, or will the individual devices keep their same identifiers?

I don’t have a convenient way of connecting a keyboard and display to the ODROID, and I have not found a good way to access the files on the ODROID remotely to be able to modify them.

here’s a good video to get you started: Migrating Zigbee to Home Assistant Sky Connect - YouTube
looks like you still need your current dongle for z-wave devices.

Not if using ZHA. Only one ZHA instance is supported and zigbee only allows one coordinator per network.

Assuming you’re currently on ZHA and migrating the network, everything should come over in place, almost as if you never changed sticks. The goal is that it is boring and painless. Of course migration is relatively new, so have good backups.

BUT…

There might be an issue if migrating the zigbee net stick to stick AND you need keep the zwave side active. There is (or at least was) an issue if the zignee side of the husbzb is migrated, but needs to remain active for zwave. The new stick adopts the zigbee ieee address of the old husbzb stick. If the old stick is still plugged in and powered for zwave, you end up with two zigbee radios active with the same ieee and network confusion ensues, even though the husbzb zigbee side is not really being used.

I don’t know if there was ever an easy solution or not.

Duplicated addresses won’t be an issue if forming a new network without migrating, but then you would need to re-pair everything. As long as you keep the same device names during the re-pairing, your automations shouldn’t need to be touched.
