Slow response from Home Assistant

I have been suffering with a problem since the last update. Everything in my house is taking a long time to turn on or off.

If I click the icon for any light in the house it takes anywhere from 5-18seconds (yes seconds) to turn on/off. This is the same on any device whether its wifi connected (phone using the app) or a wired desktop.

All my automations have stopped being useful, for example the automation that flashes the lights red when someone rings the doorbell now usually triggers after I have got to the door, received the parcel and closed the door. even when it does trigger, the lights dont really flash. they start to, but then seem to get stuck. not much use. The automatation I have in the shower is to flash all the bathroom lights at random colours (disco shower we call it) triggers, but rather than flashing, seems to set all the lights to different colours and get stuck, after a 10/15seconds it will suddenly wake up and flash through a few more colours and get stuck again.

I am running HA in a container in proxmox. Been doing this for about 2 years now with no issues. About 6 months ago I upgraded to a Ubiquiti network. Promox/HA is wired. I have a Zwave and Zigbee dongle for connecting my devices. I have

  • 13 Philips hue lights (some bulbs, some strips)
  • 7 Aeotec Multi6 sensors
  • 3 Xioami Aquara door sensors
  • 2 x sonoff BASICZBR3 switches.

Ive never had a problem with this system (been using hassio for about 10 years now) until the last update. Its driving me crazy. What can I do to trouble shoot this as I am running out of ideas after:

  • Updating HA and all addons/intergrations
  • rebooting HA
  • Rebooting HA container
  • Rebooting Proxmox machine
  • Re-installed HA (but used restore from google drive back)

Please help!

The slowness you have, is it on everything in HA or just Zigbee (or Zwave) devices?

What hardware are you running HA on?

Start by looking through your logs, both the HA ones and the zigbee and zwave logs.

It seems to be anything in HA, however I only use ZWave and Zigbee devices. I dont have anything wifi or BT, so its hard to tell I guess. Ill have a look through the logs

Please don’t post logs as screenshots. The error suggest you have interference on your Zigbee network.

Apologies, didnt realise I shouldnt post screenshots. I have deleted the post.

After following your link and doing some googling, I have put the Sonoff Zigbee controller on a 1m usb extention and plugged it into a usb 2.0 port. All seems well so far, but ill monitor for a while.

Its strange how its been directly connected to the motherboard via a blue usb3 port for about 2 years and never had issues until I did the update the other day.

fingers crossed though. Thanks for your help!

Great! the extension cable is a must  Regarding logs as screenshot, it is better to paste it as text since people then can copy/paste the relevant errors from the logs and it also makes it searchable for people in the future having the same issue.

For future reference if anyone finds this thread the error he was having was MAC_CHANNEL_ACCESS_FAILURE 225
