SMA Home Manager - How to display current consumption

Hello,

I have integrated SMA Solar with Home Manager into my HA. All is working fine - except the one thing I cant get it to display is my home’s current consumption.

In the Sunny Portal - it shows a total consumption value… e.g. 2.65kW that I cannot find an entity showing in HA integration.

Has anyone solved this? Is it a derived sensor with a formular?

Looks like you also have an SMA power meter.

The inverter does not supply the grid/house consumption and you need this extra device to get this info.

You can add this device to HA too. Though personally I found it to be very inaccurate.

You have to calculate your own household consumption from the feed-in/grid purchase and production.

That is not available without an SMA power meter. They obviously have one since the values are available in Sunny Portal. The meter just needs to be added to HA.

I’m the author of a SMA-Integration

I never(!) saw a sensor for household consumption.

The SHM2 doesn’t provide the information either. As far as I know, SMA also calculates the value for their portal.

But I’d be happy to be proven wrong by a screenshot or simlar.

Yeah that has to be calculated from the others.

But you can’t get grid import/export from the inverter. You need the meter. That is the missing piece provided by the meter.

Some inverters mirror the values of the SHM2.
And since it has ‘metering’ entries on the screenshot, I strongly assume that its inverter provides the values of the SHM2.
But you can’t say that for sure because the names are cut off

But you’re right. If the inverter does not provide the values, it is necessary to integrate the SHM2.

Use this Add-on for HA: GitHub - kellerza/hassio-sma-em: Home Assistant SMA Add-On
It can read your Home Manager through the Speedwire protocol and the values you wanted.

e.g.

pconsume, pconsumecounter,
psupply, psupplycounter,
qconsume, qconsumecounter,
qsupply, qsupplycounter,
sconsume, sconsumecounter,
ssupply, ssupplycounter,
cosphi,
frequency,

prefix: p=real power, q=reactive power, s=apparent power, i=current, u=voltage postfix: unit=the unit of the item, e.g. W, VA, VAr, Hz, A, V, kWh, kVArh, kVAh ... postfix: counter=energy value (kWh, kVArh, kVAh) without postfix counter=>power value (W, VAr, VA)

Just keep in mind, you need to have MQTT server installed in your HA to read these values.

Hi @RangerDjanger
You said you managed to integrate Home Manager into your HA. How exactly did you do that? My problem is that I have 2 inverters connected to Home Manager. And while HA can easily connect to one of the inverters, I can’t get it connected to Home Manager :frowning: And HM has all the combined data so I’d like to pull from it. Thank you!
