SMA Sunny Boy SE5.0 integration

Hi,

*** Update *** it seems that the SMA Solar integration will not work with ennexOS which runs on my SMA Sunny Boy SE5.0.
So question is how to integrate a SMA invertor with an ennexOS firmware on it?

I just installed a SMA Sunny Boy Smart Energy 5.0 with firmware 03.12.15.R on it.
HA see this device (with correct IP address) and present the integration.
I created first a user/password on the SMA in User management and changed as well both user and installer password in the device parameters. To make it easy for now, all passwords are the same.
When in HA, I want to add the SMA, it requests a password, so I enter the password used. With use SSL verification and/or verify SSL checked or unchecked it fails (or failed to connect or authentication failed) whether I use user or installer.
Checking the SMA addon, I read it is for SMA US devices.
So has someone not in US already integrated this device in to HA and if so, how?
Thx in advance
Marc Engrie

Not sure where you go the US only information from. It works here in Australia, at least it does for my SunnyBoy 6.0.

Your inverter uses webconnect so it should work.

You want:

Use SSL: ticked

Verify SSL: not ticked

Basically the opposite of the defaults.

Your host URL can just be the IP address. I don’t think you need https://<ip_address> though it would not hurt to try.

Hoi Tom,

got info about SMA on Home Assistant here SMA Solar - Home Assistant where first line states it is for SMA US invertor.

As you can see, based on your settings, authentication fails neveertheless :frowning:

Reading the whole article, I know see “Devices with the ennexos operating system (like the Tripower X series) and all Energy Meters (SMA Energy Meter and SMA Sunny Home Manager) are not supported.”
my device has a ennexos operating system hence that will the reason ro it.

This does not mean it is only US:

It is two separate links. One to the global SMA website and one to the US SMA website.

Interesting, I downloaded the datasheet for your inverter and it said:

Which looked like it was supported:

I did not consider the bit about ennexos.

Your best bet now would be to search the forum for “SMA Modbus”.

EDIT: Actually SMA Speedwire looks like it has been reverse engineered and made into an integration: SMA Speedwire Integration - #22 by professor_alex this might be easier.
