Small switch on table lamp cord

Hi!

I’ve just started out with home automation and I love it!
My wife however doesnt want to loose the ability to turn on lamps on their regular switches.
For wall switches it’s easy to find a lot of alternatives but I can’t find any good options for switches that can be mounted on fixtures.

What I would like to do is remove the old switches that is on the lamp cords and replace them with a switch that can talk to HA and then HA would tell the connected light bulb to turn on/off. I have z-wave today but will invest in a zigbee hub shortly so the switch could talk to either protocol.

The closest thing I’ve found is the Xiaomi Smart Wireless Switch (http://www.gearbest.com/smart-light-bulb/pp_257679.html) but I would prefer something more elongated that sits better on a cord. I’m also uncertain if the switch would work with the IKEA Trådfri Hub that I’m thinking about getting.

Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated!

I think that Xiaomi switch requires their own Xiaomi gateway in order to get it working.

Sonoff is your friend… I just did this for a pump but the process is the same. Ben’s video is very helpful and so damn easy. Works on Wifi and is amazingly quick. the Sonoff has a small black button to manually turn on and off

Thanks for the info.
After I made the post I realized how cheap their bundles are so I ordered one. Now I’ll just have to wait a couple of weeks to get it to Sweden…

That’s great! I’ve seen the video before but didn’t remember that it had a physical button. Thanks!
