Smart Floodlight Camera

I am looking for a Smart WiFi Floodlight Camera combination to replace several existing mains powered security lights. I tried the new Eufy E430. It seems like a great unit - although it is a bit pricy - but was unable to get it to works. It seems Eufy is trying to lock customers into their closed ecosystem.

I’ve done some research and have not found what I am looking for. I’m order of my priorities:

  1. Mains powered with WiFi
  2. Home Assistant Core integration; HACS integration otherwise.
  3. RTSP capable
  4. High quality camera; dual cameras - nice to have
  5. Two or 3 LED light panels
  6. Dimmable
  7. Adjustable color

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I am lookling for the same, as well as wired & WiFi connectivity and the ability within HA to turn the lights on and off separately from the camera -

Reolink Duo 2?

Thanks for the suggestion, @KKlitgaard. I took a look at the Reolink Duo 2 and it has neither a) mains power – I do not have Ethernet cables for POE at the locations where I I need to install the cameras – nor b) floodlights. I did look at the Reolink site and it seems that they do not have a cemera floodlight combination.

This looks like a great option, @KKlitgaard. The camera is powered by 12VDC and the lights are battery operated, so need to be recharged. I have a question into Reolink asking if these can be mounted on a US electrical box and if there is a option for mains power. If these issues can be resolved, this may be a winner.

Strange, but when I browse the Reolink product list, this camera does not come up.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

I’m curious about the answer to your question to Reolink - did you receive a reply and are you able to share? I’m guessing the answer is “no” but would love to be surprised.

The answer was a resounding ‘no’. I have still have not found anything that meets my needs.

Did you ever solve this? In the same boat.

Unfortunately, same answer as 4 months ago. I still have not found anything that meets my needs.

Doesn’t Amcrest make a mains powered WiFi floodlight?

Thanks for the suggestion, @Eddiearlett.

I spoke with Amcrest. The only camera/light combination they have is the Amcrest SmartHome 2MP WiFi Camera Floodlight Built-in Siren ASH26-W. It is 12 VDC, not mains, and the camera resolution is only 2 MP, pretty low by current standards. If I could find a small mains to 12 VDC adapter that could be mounted in the electrical box – I’ve looked and have not found anything – there are a lot of options.

Where I have access to an Ethernet cable, I am using the Reolink Dou PoE which works great. This is not an option for replacing existing security lights. I believe all of the non-PoE Reolink cameras/light combos run on 12 VDC, not mains.

Maybe a small, Shelley sized 12 VDC adapter is the way to go. I might see it I can build something.

The search goes on.

That is strange. They must have changed something but I have that exact camera (same model number) and its powered by the mains. I can’t get to the documentation but when I follow the amazon link you can read a user review where the person talks about wiring up to the mains.

So its a bit confusing.

@GavinCampbell you are 100% correct! I spoke with Amcrest again and they sent me a link that works for the User Manual. It is clearly
mains powered. It is odd that the specifications do not include power specs.

Are you happy with the unit overall and image quality? Looking at review on Amazon, people either seem to love it or hate it. Many of the most recent reviews are 1 or 2 stars.

Since this seems to be the only option, I may give it a try. Since I get most things from Amazon, I can always return it.

Thanks for the info, @GavinCampbell.

I’m not really a fan of it but options are very limited.

The video quality isn’t the greatest. But it has an API so integration with HA is pretty good. I also have Foscam cameras which have a bit better video quality. Its worth a try if you can return it. Everybody’s definition of quality is different.

I get really jealous of the non floodlight cameras that have the awesome quality (especially at night) but they aren’t an easy install.

Thanks for the feedback. If you can run an Ethernet cable to your camera, I am a big fan of the Reolink Dou 3 PoE. It is a bit large and not the most attractive, but it does a great job. I wish the flood lights were bit brighter, but PoE can only supply so much power. As I do have traditional security lights in the area, this is not a huge issue for me. I was hoping to replace the security lights with a camera.light combo, but since I could not anything and I was able to run a Ethernet cable, I went with the Reolink.

I do not really use the cameras directly with HA. I am running Security Station on my Synology NAS and just have the real-time videos in HA. Synology gives me the ability to records large amounts of video without bogging down my small HA server.

Thanks for the feedback, @GavinCampbell.

I have other areas I where I would like to replace security lights with a camera/light combo.

Anyone got the Tapo C720? I’ve got a basic tp-link indoor camera and it plays nicely with Home Assistant and Scrypted. The C720 looks good value for the spec.

Welp I found it (Or atleast very close)

  1. Mains powered with WiFi (YEP with 5Ghz)

  2. Home Assistant Core integration; HACS integration otherwise. (HACS)

  3. RTSP capable (Yes)

  4. High quality camera; dual cameras - nice to have (Single High quality 2k)

  5. Two or 3 LED light panels (2 LED)

  6. Dimmable (Yep, though I have been able to control it from the app and in the firmware, but not in HA yet)

  7. Adjustable color (Yep, though I have been able to switch between warm and cool color temperature from the app and in the firmware, but not in HA yet)

One extra for me was compatible with Frigate and it meets that also

It’s the Empire Tech IPC-FL46N Yeah it’s pricey but it meets all of my requirements and it’s built very well and it looks like it’s supported though it is a ‘new’ product. I’m setting it up this week and maybe installing next weekend if the weather holds.
