Well, you’re in the right place, but… your question is a little too open ended to answer clearly. What do you want to be “smart”? What things do you want to control, and how do you want to control (or automate) them? How much tinkering do you want to do? How comfortable are you with electrical wiring? How about with software? Linux? Python? ARM devices like the Raspberry Pi? What’s your budget? How much time do you have?
