Smart Immersion heater. Thermowatt

Does anyone know if I can read the current temprature and control this smart heater from thermowatt: TMEC Wi-Fi immersion heater | Water heating elements | Thermowatt EN

It will be interesting to be able to have smart features in homeassistant like showing the water tank temprature (or how many people can currently have bath) in the dashboard. Automation to change the heating temprature of the element per hour of the day(at 07:00 which is only 1 person for bath heat to 45 but at 18:00 heat to 60 etc.). AI can learn how long the heater takes to heat the water so when I say hot water at 45 at 07:00 it starts earlier to have the water ready at 07:00 (like nest heating).
Finally you can read if you are exporting electricity from solar panels and ask for the immersion heater to heat the hot water tank.

There is an app that does basic functionality so there should be a way to interface with the immersion heater.

Hi.
Did you ever find out if the Thermowatt can be seen and controlled by Home Assistant?

Likewise! Thermowatt equipment is contained within a ā€œThermannā€ branded hot water tank here in Australia as a home brand of Reece.
It seems ESP based, but I don’t think it is Tuya.
I did try to reach out to Thermowatt and even the app developers directly but they didn’t respond. Seemingly Italian.

Even though I’m in Australia, I can see DNS queries out to a29wru6dvi3p6q-ats.iot.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com

Thermowatt.

Hi

Just wondering if anyone had got any further with this integration?

The firmware does run on an ESP chip but it’s their own firmware, not Tuya. You could likely serial flash it with ESPHome. Just be sure to dump the original firmware in case you want to flash it back again.

I did manage to get in contact with Theromwatt. I mentioned the importance of a local API and also linked them to this discussion. Currently they only have a cloud API. They didn’t confirm or deny if they’re gonna do a local API but they seemed somewhat interested in allowing for more automation controls. They are working to improve their app.

Yeah I’ll believe it when I see it! Considering the only ā€˜notification’ the app does is the ā€œhey I’m getting rid of legionellaā€ cycle and nothing else, it’s a bit underwhelming.
I also got in touch with the product manager at Dux and albeit friendly, didn’t put much emphasis on this considering we’re probably just a noisy minority.

Obviously be careful if you open yours without isolating it (mains voltage), but some photos from my unit.
