Smart Light Switch - no neutral wire

I want to replace some light switches with smart switches - preferably Z-Wave or WiFi. Problem is the house is old and the wiring does not have neutral wire. All the switches I’ve found have this as a requirement. Are there any smart switches available that do not require neutral wire?

Switches must be suited for Australia - approx 115mm x 75mm and 240V - and available in 1,2 and 3 gang versions.

Yes there are. I have used these and they work fine. They do need a capacitor fitting across the load but that comes with the device.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at those. No problems integrating with Home Assistant?

No, not once I’d flashed it with tasmota. If I was doing it again I’d probably use ESPHome instead.

Here is Sonoff’s option (WiFi)

The Sonoff T4 would be fine if there was a AU/US version. The EU version is wrong size for Australian fittings. I found Sonoff T1, T2, and T3 with AU versions but they require neutral wire. I haven’t been able to find a 3-gang AU version.

I did the whole house in Lutron Caseta. Works great, use the Caseta Pro bridge (wired or wifi) to control them, the integration for it works great. Completely reliable. Not exactly cheap, but real light switches, and their “nano” remotes are terrific as they can fit under a wall plate with no box behind it to put a switch anywhere with no holes (e.g. on tile).

It would be great to add that to your original question :\

You are right - I didn’t even know there were different sized wall plates in Europe. Will update my post.

It’s even worse - in the UK it’s different to EU (but apparently you can use EU switches in the UK).
I thought you’re asking about UK switches because “no neutral wire” is a typical UK problem

I migrated my tasmota to esphome OTA:
