Has anyone made any efforts to build a smart pillow similar to the Nora product here?
From what I can determine without dropping $400 on the actual product, when the Nora detects snoring it will inflate or deflate an air bladder inserted into the pillowcase under the pillow. The inflation/deflation stimulates the muscles in your throat/neck helping to open the airway.
Seems relatively straightforward to replicate… monitor for a particular type of sound e.g. snoring, trigger a device that will either inflate or deflate an air bladder. Monitoring for snoring would just be trial and error. I’m unsure of how/if the Nora uses any logic to determine inflation or deflation, but simply alternating between the two when snoring is detected should effectively have the same effect of stimulating the neck muscles.
I am at a loss of the terminology to use to find an inflator/deflator mechanism. Does anyone know what that might be called and if there is a very quiet one as it will be in a bedroom?
