Smart Plug GIRIER JR-PM01 16A Energy Monitoring CB2S / BK7231N

Hello friends,

I wrote a tutorial to disconnect this device from the cloud but because I’m a new member it doesn’t let me put pictures and the necessary links, so I just leave a link with the tutorial in the forum where I got information to get the flash of this device. Link: https://www.elektroda.com/rtvforum/topic3937910.html

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, João :wave:t3:

Nice write-up :+1:t3:

Although I would buy the ZigBee version of the very same brand also available at that shop instead of going for the WiFi version.

I have a couple of them around the house and they work reliably with Z2M. No external cloud out of the box and they also offer power monitoring and are working great as ZigBee routers.

Hello, Thanks, I’m still at the beginning. Can zigbee version be used and controlled without internet disconnected from tuya cloud without any firmware modification?

Absolutely. You’ll need a Zigbee Coordinator though.

I have the same plugs and I’ve been struggling for years to make the power readings work locally with LocalTuya. But as soon as I cut internet to the plugs, all power readings are lost (in the Tuya app too). The simple switch continues to work though.
I’d bought them thinking that I could use Tuya-convert on them but that was not the case after all. But I’m not sure if they indeed have the CB2S chip, since I must’ve bought them around 2-3 years ago. Could perhaps @ipn00tic explain how he managed to open the plugs as simply as possible?

they are very difficult to open, and if you open them, they will always be marked

I don’t have the same plug (UK type)
But the method should be the same

Use a heat gun, just keep it moving around the seal then use a thin blade to see if it’s moving and lift it

And i do believe your plugs still has ESP since it’s from 3 years ago

I don’t think so or else I could be able to flash them with tuya-convert, which is not the case.

Newer tuya firmware update did patch tuya-convert exploit
However, if yours is indeed using beken chip, you can use cloudcutter to flash ota

Yes I’m exactly in the process of trying this project out now. The only problem is that if it succeeds, the dashboard of esphome within home assistant cannot be used for further OTAs, since libretuya is not a part of mainstream esphome in HA. But anyway I’ll give it a try and see what happens.

Is the energy metering available in this setup (Zigbee coordinator, no Tuya cloud connection)?

Yes, it is:
