Smart radiator thermostats causing wear or radiator valves

Like many of us I have installed smart radiator thermostats (Aqara E1) on most of my radiators to give me per room control of my heating.

This has worked well for me and I enjoying deciding in the evening who in my family is deserving of heat or not ( )

Yesterday, My wife drop a cushion down the side of her chair and when she retrieved it it was wet which resulted in us pulling furniture aside to investigate. The caused was traced to a leaky radiator valve.

I called in a plumber to change the valve and he mentioned that smart thermostats can cause wear because they are adjusting the flow rate temperature constantly.

The radiator in question was installed 20 years ago so could indeed have needed some maintenance but I certainty notice the amount of chatter my smart radiator thermostats cause trying to adjust the temperature.

Has anyone else notice wear on radiator valves when using smart ?

You need to switch the insert at times.
I do not know the proper english name, but mine looks like this.

Normal hand cranked thermostats are also adjusting the pin position all the time.
That is how they work.
But fair enough, the TRVs probably move the pin more each time where as a hand cranked thermostat only does very fine adjustments.
