Smart relay to activate unconnected power outlet & wall switch

Please bear with me. It’s my first project and I’ll try to explain at best of my abilities what I’m trying to accomplish.

I have a standard wall switch that is not connected directly to a power outlet in another part of the house. I would like to connect a light source to this power outlet and use the wall switch I mentioned to power it on and off.
I don’t need to have a way to switch it on and off through my smartphone (even if it would be appreciated).

I was looking into shelly 1PM to accomplish this but I’m not entirely sure how (or even if it would be the correct tool for this).

Thanks everyone already and feel free to let me know if I can provide additional information for direction.

You can use a sonoff mini (ideally R2 so you can flash it with tasmota without soldering)
Then, your switch will on/off the relay and your switch will work as usual but, you’ll get an mqtt message in HA.

Soyou’ll get what you need to do an automation that handle your power outlet and as a bonus the switch will be operable from your smartphone.

Is it what you’re looking for?

Of course, shelly is suitable as it is the same as the sonoff device, just that it is usually more expensive.

That is pretty much it Olivier!

I’m also a bit unsure though about the connection of the device on the switch as well since it should have no real output, I believe.

In the meantime thanks for the suggestion regarding sonoff. I’ll look into it.

Have a look at this video, it is inspiring.

It is decoupling the relay from the switch, even thou, in your case, there is no real need if the switch is “useless” otherwise.

sonoff (and shelly) is just about activating a relay, whether connected to something or not.
