Smart Relays metered - Advice request on HW selection

Hi,
I would like to install in my house around 10/15 smart relays, I would install them inside electrical boxes, the outputs will go to traditional plugs, with the primary role of power meters but with secondary function of relays to cut and restore power via automation when needed.

The requirements I’d like to satisfy are:

  • no tuya, even with local access I’d like to avoid the hassle to block Internet access and so on
  • running even on a local only scenario, I have multiple VPNs in place so I’ll access the devices with these when away from home
  • smaller to fit inside already occupied boxes
  • no DIY, I’m a monster at soldering and the result will surely be a disaster
  • to avoid having multiple devices in a single box I’d like to have dual gang devices at least (I have electrical boxes with 2 plugs
  • 230VAC powered
  • Wifi (no zigbee/zwave)
  • MQTT integrable (or at least REST API exposed)
  • EU available

So far my search in the forum and on the internet has lead me to 2 devices:

  • Shelly 2.5
  • Sonoff dual R3

the second need a little soldering to install Tasmota but I think I’ll can do it if needed. For the same reason I could go to the cloudcutter/openbk way if there are deviced known to work that way…

Any futher suggestions?

Sorry if I have missed some post on the forum, I admit that my search has been a little superficial.
Thanks in advance!

Bumping up this request, maybe after the holidays someone can jump in.

For me Shelly is the only valid answer.
I really love this company.

Why Shelly 2.5? It’s gen1 device.
There is gen2 successor: Shelly Plus 2PM

What you however should take into account is the maximum switching current.
Those devices are limited to 10A per relay, but 16A total. It will be ok for lamps, phone chargers. Using for a kettle, vacuum cleaner, air conditions that are hovering around those limits might significantly decrease the Shelly’s life.

Worth saying, that the above applies to switching (turning on/off). Without state change, they can easily do those limits for years.

You might consider a bigger brother: Shelly Pro 2 or Shelly Pro 2PM. But those are bigger and more expensive animals to be mounded into switchboard cabinet (DIN rail)

Look at shelly.cloud for whole range of their devices

TY maxym,
Shelly is undoubtedly a good company, like every good product (best of breed??) it’s not cheap. At 25€ a pop where I live, I’ll spend a little of my hobby budget.

I’ll keep digging, Some tuya device seems to be convertible with Openbk, if the search fails I’ll revert to Shellys, probably reducing the number of monitored plugs…

BTW TY for your advice on the power rating of the switches…

And gen3 successor: Shelly 2PM Gen3

Nice find. When answering I was looking on shelly pages and somehow missing that. It’s great they gave it in gen3 edition. It seems it’s available since Sep’25
