I have purchased several ThirdReality Smart Switch Gen3 devices. They have been integrating easily and performing reliably for me, so I planned on getting more, but I am wondering if it's possible to set these in a light switch locked on position. So instead of toggling the physical switch, the switch is always in the on position and then trigger automations upon button press instead of flipping the physical switch.
I have three rooms that have ceiling fans that I plan to add smart ceiling fan controllers that will require constant power. If these can be used in an always on/button press automation trigger only mode it would save me extra wiring and these rooms would match the rest of my switches. I can't find any documentation on this being an option and AI agents take this lack of documentation to mean it's not possible, but it seems like it should be simple enough (although I have not torn one of these devices apart to see how they are physically wired).
Has anyone tried this or know if it's possible? I know there are other ways to achieve it, but I already have some of these devices I could use, install/removal is super simple, and they would match the rest of my devices.
If this isn't possible, I guess I could remove the physical light switch, use a blank light switch cover, and then use the switch as intended, and it just not have a light switch to toggle, but I'd prefer to leave the physical light switch intact and avoid the wiring.
