I’m trying to see if there are light switched in the UK that can be used to turn off lights, but still power them when switched “off”. My wife keeps on turning the lights on and off by the switch so the automation stops working as she has turned them off!
Anyone seen this in the UK please? we have brushed chrome switches so would prefer to replace with something similar
They are difficult to find and most of them will only work with plastic casings as metal can mess with the wireless connectivity.
Assuming you are using Phillips Hue bulbs.
My solution was to “lock” my switches using switch guards and place some Hue dimmers next to them. It isn’t the prettiest solution, but it works pretty well.
yeah thanks for this even a plastic casing would be cool. I looked at the hue dimmers, but I would want something a bit smaller. Some of our light switches have up to 3 switches in 1, which is making life even more complicated.
@MarkR The obvious response here is to get a new wife.
I have tried to make it easier to turn lights on and off with a more convenient remote.Doesn’t always work but . .
You can also disable the switch by wire nuting the two wires together in the box.
