I have been using a Nortek HUSBZB-1 for about a year now, it’s a great little thing; tiny dongle that acts as a hub for both Zigbee and Z-wave.
I managed to get a free Smart Things V2 Hub from work and was wondering if it’s worth swapping out.
Does anyone have experience with these two devices and can tell me the pros/cons of either for home assistant? I don’t intend to use Samsungs app with the smartthings hub but if its more reliable than the Nortek HUSBZB-1 I’ll swap it out.
I was thinking maybe the radio on the Smart Things V2 hub is better than the radio on the HUSBZB-1 since it’s large and might accomodate more transmission power, but i really have no clue.
Can the Smart Things v2 hub work completely locally? I basically just want it for its radios (Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-wave) and i don’t want it if it HAS to rely on internet. I dont see why The HUSBZB-1 could work without internet but the smart things hub which effectively has the same radio hardware (more or less) would not.
