Smart toaster

Why do engineers believe they need to make everything “smart”?

Seriously, you have to pick the correct bread type out of 34 types of bread before toasting.
:man_facepalming: who would do that every morning??

Why not just make a modern copy of the Sunbeam toaster, that was smart. Not by today’s standards of smart but still so much more smart than this.

Some things just don’t need to be smart. I just bought a Cosori air fryer. The one i bought is smart, because it was £5 cheaper than the non smart one

All it does is allow me to send settings from an online recipe to it, or tell me what setting it is on, Oh and the obligatory update software. I may as well set the settings when I put the food in, and I can remember the temp and time from the recipe.

Mind you plenty have said to me that they can turn their lights on by using a switch on the wall

It’s usually not the turn on that is the issue, it’s the off…
The kids run around and turn on the lights everywhere and I have my NS-panel in the kitchen and can turn them off.
Need to get some mmwave sensors to automate that.

According to the reviews I’ve seen it’s a pretty crappy toaster too. Very uneven toasting.

I like the fact that smth can be smarter than me.
