SmartThings & Aeotec Z-Stick

Haven’t been able to find a direct answer for this: Am I able to add SmartThings devices and sensors to an Aeotec Z-Stick WITHOUT a SmartThings hub? I know they are z-wave devices but I haven’t been able to discern whether or not a SmartThings hub is absolutely necessary. My local MicroCenter has a lot of inexpensive SmartThings items, but I don’t want to add yet another hub to my Hass.io set up.

Running Hass.io 0.100.1 on RPi3B+ w/ Aeotec Z-Stick Series 5

The short answer is… maybe.

I have a smartthings button and a multisensor and I do not have a ST hub (I have a HUSBZB stick). They’re both working fine. The multisensor, however, only recently got more functionality (the vibration sensor wasn’t easily accessible until recently.)

So you should be able to pair most of the ST sensors, but you may not get all of their functions without the hub. Or at least right away, anyhow.

Microcenter, huh? I have one local to me (northern NJ) and that’s where I got my multisensor a few months ago and I was actually going to go back this week for some more stuff.

(Microcenter seems to put ST stuff on sale often.)
