I’m a bit wary of the Wink issues and trying to switch over to SmartThings. The integration with HA is a bit interesting – webhook based. I found an article on a ST-Wink Bridge that would run locally as well.
If you use ST with Home Assistant Cloud, the integration is incredibly easy. I only connected my sensors and light bulbs to ST, and they show up in HA like native entities. Using SmartThings devices through Home Assistant is as responsive as accessing through SmartThings.
If you don’t use HA Cloud, then you can use MQTT broker and the SmartBridge add-on, but that takes a little more work and you manually add each device in your HA configuration.
You probably heard of common ST issues like it being cloud-based and all. I’ve never had issues with outages but that doesn’t mean you won’t. I guess you’ll have to try it to find out!
That sounds great! Very tired of Wink outages/flakes and ready to take the plunge. I put my HA on a public IP (letsencrypt + security) and was able to add my first bulb. Now the rest of my 35+ other devices…
