I recently purchased one of these multi sensors to use on an outside door. It paired fine as an opening and seems to work fine, but instead of open and closed it reports on and off. Is there a way to change the reported values?

For binary sensors, you should be able to pick a different device class in the settings:

If not, you could use customize in your configuration.yaml to change it.
