Smartwings Shades - Best Protocol?

So I bought a new stick (700 series), and move all my nodes from the 500 to the 700. To my surprise, this migration works quite well with backup/restore.
Sadly, the smartwing screen was still not including with the 700 series.

And today, I finally found out why!!!
The z-wave RF region must be on USA. The screen works in HA. Sounds logic, no?

Sadly all other nodes are dead.
Not possible to combine 2 RF’s?

If anybody sees a solution, I’m open for suggestions!

I just got got a couple of the cellular blinds in. Still waiting on the the third, I guess they ship whenever they are done. I ordered the z-wave version. I did not see any reason to pay double for the matter version. I originally had trouble trying to pair with the motor button. Luckily the wife ordered one remote and after trying the pairing mode from the remote it paired right away. You will need the pin from the label on the blind if you do not have the z-wave 700. It shows
battery and position as a cover. I am running z-wave JS as an integration with a HUSBZB-1 you do not need the new 700 zwave don’t waste your money.

Just ordered 4 of their double roller Matter / thread shades.

I have a couple of Apple TVs which can act as routers - when I set these up for home assistant is my best bet to setup in HomeKit and use the HomeKit / HA integration to expose these to home assistant or is there a better way?

These are my first thread / matter devices.

Please let us know how the matter/thread variant works for you!

Curious if you happened to have the roller shades in-sync where if you have multiple they raise and lower at the exact same time over z-wave.

Tried sending multicast messages but it appears that does not work.

Are your cellular shades raising and lowering in-sync?

Not at all. The delay from z-wave is 0-30 seconds, randomly for each blind. I can tell Google to lower them and at first it does nothing, then one starts moving, and sometime later the other one does. And this is will wired z-wave.

The remote is instant though. One thought is to use my Bond to send the open/close/favorite command. This would make them react instantly.

It’s less of an issue when they open and close automatically based on the time or sun position and a minute here or there doesn’t matter.

Hi,

I am also interested in the ZigBee version of Smartwings blinds. How is it? Is it reliable with ZigBee2Mqtt? Is the Open and Close still reversed?

I should check my message better… Yes. They are still in-sync. I use them everyday. They raise and lower as we leave the house and come back. They was also raise and lower on time events. When I get time outside temp will play into it as well.

I’ve had good experience with zwave ones… I spoke to them on the chat and for some reason zwave is what they recommended when I told them I have ZWave and Zigbee on my home assistant…

I just got my first Zigbee one paired and I can confirm that up is down and down is up. Any solution to this? I know someone mentioned scripting and a few other tricks but I am unfamiliar with how to do that. As far as the remote, I know it works as it should where up is up and down is down.

In digging more in this, I might need some assistance from someone who knows better on the scripting aspects of this but I think I have identified the problem on the Zigbee side.

1.) The “Open” or “Close” status, 100% wrong all the time. It is the opposite of what is reported. I can get past that if I go by 0% or 100% but there is a problem (see 2).

2.) I am guessing they use the same Zigbee motor and controller on the left-motor and right-motor shades but just flip them to the other side, so 100% might be all the way open (still reads “closed”) on the left-hand motor but 100% is all the way closed (still reads “open”) on the right-hand motor.

I am using Zigbee2MQTT so I have the Settings(specific) option to invert cover at either True or False, but that does not seem to do anything.

I see there is a way to apply a script to these in MQTT but I have no clue on how to do something with that and would love for some assistance on this.

Because a right-hand motor is completely opposite of a left-hand motor, you pretty much have to independently control them, so groups are about useless.

Thank you in advance.

When you use the two shades with the remote do they go in the same direction?

I have the zwave version, dual motors, and on LHS and one RHS motors. I didn’t have any issues with direction.

If the remote doesn’t make then go the same way, they the motor was set wrong at the factory, and they may be able to help you reconfigure it.

The remote works perfectly. Up is up. Down is down.

It seems to be only the Zigbee portion of it. They came directly from China (shipping label said so).

It seems like if I use Zigbee2MQTT and use the “Settings (specific)” flag to invert the cover (set it to true) on the right-hand motors, at least 0-100% cover matches the left-hand motor.

That further makes me assume they use the same motor but put it on backwards.

Open/Close still is backwards, regardless.

I just installed my first two Zwave honeycomb shades and paired them to HA. No issues. I DO have an issue with the second blind and the remote. Sometimes it doesn’t respond to a command depending on where the remote is. Zwave seems to work 100% of the time. I’m going to try moving the wire which I assume is the antenna and see if that helps. Otherwise, I’m extremely happy with the quality and fit (except for the metal clips that hold the battery to the shade housing, but it’s a minor complaint).

I may order some order blinds soon.

Did you managed to solve this using z-wave EU RF instead of USA? I am also having same problem. I have Aeotec Z-Stick 7 (700 series).

In case anyone is wondering…it’s not the blind. It’s the remote. The other blind exhibited the same behavior one time. I think it’s a problem with waking the remote up after not using it for a while. A second button press and the blind receives the command.

Again…ZWave works perfectly. It has to be the remote.

This is not unique to zwave either. I have the matter versions and sometimes you have to press the button a second time,

Smartwings was so friendly to send me a new motor, with buildin EU RF.
