I have a mix of zwave and mqtt devices on my network. Looking to complete the system by adding Zigbee. In 2025, would I want a USB dongle E or P or use an ethernet SMLight and do Zigbee2MQTT?
The ethernet ones are more placement friendly and a huge help if you virtualize, but if you already are using USB devices the latter probably doesn’t matter too much. I went from USB to ethernet and never looked back.
Sounds like ethernet is the way to go.
I´m on Zigbee2MQTT and just moved from a Sonoff E to a SLZB-6M.
I did because i could not because i needed. My Zigbee network was and still is fine.
But running HAOS in a VM an seperate (net) Coordinator seemed better.
Some users with USB coordinators experienced some problems with the recent major Z2M update, i didnt…
I run HA bare metal on a mini pc so either way works for me. Just wanted to make sure I go down the zigbee path with a good start. I’ll order a SLZB-6M from Ali.
