That’s a good question, but it’s also something I haven’t tested. @fleskefjes may have more knowledge. If it was me, I would start with the same VLAN as HA and see what is or isn’t working correctly.
You can’t do any harm testing your internet connection via different VLANs.
I have a multi-vlan setup to segregate my network (iso some devices without internet etc). When I have HA connected to these vlan’s, HA is unable to discover some devices (specifically a TP-Link EP10), but curiously can discover others (like a chromecast). I can manually add the IP and it will connect the EP10, so communication on that VLAN is working fine.
If I remove HA from all the other networks and only have HA connected to the network that TP-Link plug is on, HA discovers the plug instant…
I simplified my setup by having one IoT VLAN that has no internet access by default and then adding a rule that allows internet access for the very few devices that really need it. I started trying to do what you did, but it ended up never quite working right (mDNS discovery across VLANs is spotty at best on UniFi in my experience).
