Hello all,
As the title goes, I am looking to potentially, via Home Assistant, set my lights to either turn on and off in a smooth transition over let’s say 1-2 seconds, or maybe instead dim in and out from 0 to 100 and vice versa when I press the physical ligth switch button. I will also endeavor to set them up to be triggered with either an Aqara motion sensor or its FP2 Presence Sensor.
My light switches are all by Treatlife, which apparently is the same as Smartlife or Tuya. In HA, they’re connected via the Tuya IOT platform.
I am extremely new to Home Assistant and have really little knowledge or experience with it. Based on the few hours I’ve spent trying to find a way to do it, I have a feeling it will involve scripts, since I don’t see any way to smoothly dim the lights natively. I’m perfectly fine with using scripts to achieve this method, for example maybe increasing the brightness by 1%, repeating this 100 times with 2 seconds. The problem is, I honestly don’t know how to write the script. I was hoping that I can create a basic automation, and then edit that script, but I can’t seem to do so, unless I’m doing this entirely wrong.
Has anyone attempted this before? Or is something in the switch itself is preventing me from doing this? I also tried triggering one of the light switches with my motion sensor to test the automation, but again, I can’t seem to set the automation to either
a) turn on the light switch upon motion detection, and transition it for 5 seconds; or
b) turn on the light switch and set brightness at 0 upon motion detection, and increase brightness by 1%, and repeat that step 100 times within 2 seconds.
Any guidance or assistance will be greatly appreciated. I really hope I can do this since my goal is to mimic those fancy Lutron light switches that dims on and off when you press the button or when it detects motion.
