Automation to Transition lights over time

Forgive me is this has been posted before, but I am looking for an automation to transition my lutron Casetta lights over a certain amount of time ( the current integration does not support this). I saw at one point there was an automation to step up the light over a certain amount of time. So it would look like this.

Call Service turn on lights 1%
Automation to step up lights by 5%, repeat automation until lights at 35%.

Basically do what should call service transition would do but my lights do not support.

Here is a script version of mrsnyds original work. Be advised this script is not identical to the original automation version. It uses the same algorithm but with several differences: Uses light not entity_id The option to specify the light(s) to be dimmed is named light instead of entity_id.
