Snapshot Entities don't persist

I would like to be able to make light presets through home assistant. I have lutron switches with preset buttons that work great but you have to get up. Having a similar feature available on the phone with multiple presets per light would be great. The problem with snapshot entities is they never work when I need them. If home assistant has restarted or updated since the preset was set there is nothing. Is there a way to persist snapshot entities?

I don’t see the purpose in snapshot entities if they forget their snapshots. No one wants to constantly reset their presets. Has anyone figured out a better way to handle this kind of situation, or a way to persist snapshots?

my lutron keypads w/ presets show up as scenes in home assistant. i didn’t do anything to put them there, they were automatically added by the lutron integration and i can invoke them directly. does yours not?

I haven’t tried, the difficulty with those is you get one preset per remote / switch. I’d like 3 presets per light so I have to make my own

actually what i have for my lutron is one preset per keypad button. i have a ton of different presents per light. (e.g. evening, daytime, night time are 3 different buttons/presets that control the same set of lights). also when my lutron was installed, my installer added 10 “phantom” keypads. ie, virtual keypads that don’t have physical keypad hardware associated with them… but they are programmable using the lutron mobile app, and those create 60 additional scenes that i can define.

if i understand what you want correctly, i think this should handle your case if you’ve got anything similar.

Do you have pico remotes that aren’t paired with a switch? If you pair them with a switch then 4 of 5 buttons get assigned on/off/up/down

Are you able to use without pairing to a switch then? If so I’ll need to figure out how to do that

yeah, i have 4 pico’s. they are not paired with switches, but they show up in the lutron app as its own device (peer to my keypads). i do all the programming of those via the mobile app.

if it’s helpful to you, this is my pico config for the bottom button wired straight to a dimmer light:
