Sniff 433mhz

Hey guys,

I started 2 month ago with home assistant on rasbian and changed after a short time to hassio.
Does anyone know how I can sniff 433mhz outlet codes within hassio, maybe with an addon?
I know you can sniff the codes on a normal rasbian/HA with a python script but now that I moved to hassio and have only one sd card for my rpi3 available it would be cool to sniff it in hassio.

Any help is appreciated

edit: I followed BRUH automations videos on youtube and use the gpio pins of the rpi3

I don’t know how you’re looking at doing it but I’ve done it through the 433toMQTT software on a nodemcu and have a sensor hooked up in HA to read from the MQTT stream

I have some old rf outlets in my flat which i control via remote control.
After some research I found BRUH Automations Smart Outlet Tutorial and tried it on my old rasbian home assistant.

In this tutorial he is using the Raspberry Pi RF Switch component to control the gpio pins on the rpi3. I bought a cheap transceiver and reciever and sniffed the codes via the Python Recieve Script. But this was on rasbian where you have a lot more options on the ssh shell/operations system.

Now that I moved to hassio and my girlfriend also has some rf outlets I want to sniff the codes again but dont want to move back to the rasbian/HA. I’m looking for a way to sniff 433mhz codes in hassio

Why don’t you try the nodemcu and flash it with 433tomqtt?

I dont 't have any nodemcu unit right now.
Ordered three nodemcu some days ago to build some multisensors.
But the delivery takes some time, hope they will be delivered soon.
Thought I could maybe achiev the sniffing with the things I already own.

So you are talking about something like this?

YUP! That’s what I’ve been using. Works great apart from my units range is terrible, I believe that might just be a hardware issue though.
I’ve been using mine for the past few months to detect the doorbell which then sends snapshots and notifications to my iOS devices

Probably in the time spent on this thread you could have sniffed the codes as it’s a quick process
I wrote about it in the following.
