So many home assistant questions

Hi all,

I’m comming from domoticz and so far pretty used to it, as I had some network issues at home and a defect SD card in my pi I had to go trough a lot of effort to get my smart home back up and running, and while doing so I wasted a couple of moments to install home assistant on my secondary pi.
I was pretty surprised by the ease of installation (directly trough the pi imager) and basically within a half hour I had home assistant running and a couple of integrations done.

While I’m still strugeling to get my domoticz installation back on it’s feet I’m slowly getting more in to home assistant and even thinking of transferring my complete smart Scheiße.

Couple of questions,

  • is it possible to create dummy temperature gauges?
  • is there a kind of smart thermostat to implement in to home assistant?
  • where can I find an script editor to create scripts for setting up my automations ( the basic automation per switch was a little simplified) I’m a little used to dzvent/lua by now.

So many questions

Yes. There is a Guage card which will take input from any temperature sensor.

There are several integrations for specific thermostats, like Nest, for example. There’s a list of all integrations here:

There’s also a generic thermostat integration which will use any temperature sensor to control a switch connected to heating.

There’s an add-on.

Thanks for the reply :+1:
But there is no dummy temperature card? so if want to display the combined total of six sensors, what do I have to use for that? and if I want to use this number for switching several devices…

Use a helper

You can use a template sensor. With a template sensor you can create a sensor with a value based on other sensors.

Did you already try the Automations under Settings / Automations? Usually you can get a long way with the GUI.

This is some information about scripts:
