Solar Floodlights

I’m looking into upgrading my existing wired led floodlights to some solar panelled ones, as they work more efficiently and don’t require direct power.

However, before I invest in one, I was wondering if it’s possible to somehow ‘smartify’ them so they work with HA? Zigbee is most preferred, but alternative would consider if they could be tasmotafied.

Thanks

Anyone know if it’s possible?

Pls cite the specific model’s of your proposed solar powered ‘floodlights’, this might help folks understand your setup. That said, #1, I am pretty doubtful that your are going to get any where the lumens and ‘power on time’ from any solar setup as compared to a wired one.

And #2, adding any ‘smarts’ to most any low cost solar power outdoor light is doubtful, as other than infrared control, any smart wireless technology sucks up too much power.

I’ve seen a few bluetooth BLE based wireless solar ‘relatively’ low cost lights around from Asia based ‘stores’, I’ve never tried them. And again, these are FAR from ‘floodlights’.

Best I’ve found are infrared controlled solar garden / lawn lights that do last ‘over night’ and are not too much above cost of the ‘most simple’ solar lights that just turn on/off based on light level hitting solar panel. I control these from battery powered Zigbee infrared controllers placed in ‘water proof’ food containers strategically placed around the outside of the house.

Good hunting!
