SolarEdge Modbus not returning data

Hi,
Have installed and configured the SolarEdge modbus integration however I am not seeing any data flowing back. I am using the meter connected to one of the RS485 ports.
This configuration works fine in the CBUS Shac setup with the inverter set as Unit ID 2. Can anyone shed some light or make any suggestions to get it working. I don’t see any option to select the Unit ID and I suspect this may be part of the problem.

Cheers,
Paul

Did you make any progress on this? I’m having the same issue but with modbus over TCP

Hi,

I’m using modbus over TCP, the meter is connected via RS485.
Simple answer nope, I didn’t resolve it and feedback on this forum is pretty dismal compared to other forums.

I found another integration that worked first time, have a look at Home · WillCodeForCats/solaredge-modbus-multi Wiki · GitHub

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks for the reply. This doesn’t work for me either… the port is open, but I don’t seem to get any data. I guess the modbus configuration is not correct on my inverter.

Suggest talking to Solaredge in that case, they have been extremely helpful to me in the past. Seemed that the installer didn’t know what he was doing and I had all kinds of trouble getting the connection to work. In addition, I think from memory that the meter was connected to the wrong RS485 port on the inverter.

If you’re using a newer SetApp inverter where you configure it through the built in web interface, I’ve recently updated my config steps with more screenshots that might be helpful:

If you have an older inverter with the LCD display and buttons I don’t have any pictures for that unfortunately.

Sorry to update this so late - but my issue was resolved with a firmware update on the inverter. There must have been a modbus bug in the version I had. It was only responding to modbus requests once every 30-90 minutes or so and ignoring other requests, even with the TCP connection open.

Hi to all.
I installed home assistant and the solar Edge integration because I have a solar Edge inverter connected to my home network by an ethernet cable. After configuring the modbus over Ethernet on the setapp Page of inverter all worked fine and data flows to home assistant Place on a Raspberry.
But some days ago the data flow stopped and now nothing comes from the inverter.
Yesterday evening I tried to change some parameters with setapp Page but nothing changed, no data flows.
What could be the issue?
Thanks

Doesn’t the inverter shut down at night?
