SolCast Integration for Solar Forecasts

An integration with SolCast’s API compatible with the Energy Panel would allow Australian and New Zealand HA users to configure the full extent of the Energy Panel.

The problem is that the only current solar forecasting integration is Forecast.Solar, which only covers part of the globe.

The solution is to implement SolCast. which has:

• Rest API with comprehensive documentation
• 30 minute update intervals
• Free account for 50 API calls per day
• Covers all areas including Australia and New Zealand

[ADDED in 2021.9] Support alternative Solar Forecast providers in Energy Dashboard

The Energy Dashboard introduced in 2021.8.0 does not support alternative providers of Solar Forecasts. The Solar.Forecast integration uses data which does not cover Australia, New Zealand and several countries south of the equator. Support should be added to enable developers to integrate different solar forecast providers, for example SolCast for Oceania users.
