Solution for dog detection

Hello!

I am trying to prevent my dog from ruining my 30m3 of lawn. She’s a Golden retriever full of energy. She knows she’s not supposed to reach that area and she never does it whilst we’re around…even if I throw her toy on the grass and ask her to fetch.

However…when nobody’s around, she runs in circles leaving deep trails behind and sometimes poops there instead of doing it on her clean, designated space.

For a while I had the sprinklers triggered by a battery powered motion sensor and that only had to remind her once a week or even more rarely. After I planted some stuff, I can not use motion sensors anymore as they do false alarms quite ofthen due to wind.

Is there any suitable battery powered sensor I can use in that area to detect her? Or maybe I can use the feed from cameras somehow. I also have 2 ezviz cameras pointed down the yard.

Can’t help with your issue other than to ask you to reconsider your landscaping choices.

I’m replacing my 250m2 lawn with native garden. No more mowing. No more wasted water. No more fertiliser or week killer.

Kill your lawn.

Not sure what ezviz cameras you have but are they supported by Frigate ?

Frigate may be a steep learning curve though :grimacing:

This was going to be my suggestion. Dog detection in frigate works really well. I use it for a number of things.

Yup, I’ve also heard good things about doods2

I’ve not tried it but may be an easier setup ?

My dog doesn’t care what grows. She would damage it the same way

Cheers! I’ll look in to it. This seems to be the solution
