I have a Home Assistant running in a virtualbox on my Windows PC. As part of the setup, I use a Conbee II to communicate with a MOES wireless switch. I’ve had this up and running for about 4 months without issue. I’m using the zha integration in HA.
Last night, I noticed all of the lights were blinking on the MOES like it wasn’t paired. When I started to troubleshoot this morning, I got an error on the ConBee II integration in Home Assistant.
I tried various reboots and that didn’t help. After a few reboots, I no longer see the error in HA, but the MOES continues to flash and not work. I don’t have any other zigbee devices to check.
I flashed the firmware of the ConBee on another PC, didn’t help. I uninstalled and reinstalled zha, didn’t help.
I’m relatively unskilled with HA so I’m not sure what to try next.
Solved - the battery was low in the MOES switch. This is the second battery I’ve had in that switch since installing it (probably installed in October or so). This battery was an Energizer and installed in early December. So, I’m getting about 2 months out of these batteries. Ridiculous.
I really like the switch. It fits perfectly where I need it, the buttons are a nice size where my wife could make vinyl stickers to show what each one does, and when it works, it works great.
But if I have to replace the batteries 6 times a year, it will quickly lose it’s value.
I have an extra battery from my last order, so I’ll give it one more shot. If it also dies quickly (and I see no reason why it won’t at this point), I may have to switch to the Philips Hue Tap
Thanks for the follow up post. I had the exact same symptoms. But the Battery in Hone Assistant was still showing 80% battery, so This would’ve been the last thing I would’ve thought of.
