[solved] Ip_ban_enabled reports router's ip

hey there,
i recently opened my home assistant to the internet with a duckdns address and let’s encrypt ssl certificate
to protect myself i configured ip_ban_enabled and 3 try before ban
( also changed the default port )

i had 2-3 failed login attempt but the reported ip address is my router’s… 192.168.1.254
so i guess we cant really ban an ip from the internet ?

is there something missing ?

http:
  base_url: xxxx.duckdns.org:1234
  ssl_certificate: '/ssl/fullchain.pem'
  ssl_key: '/ssl/privkey.pem'
  server_port: 1234
  ip_ban_enabled: true
  login_attempts_threshold: 3

( domain and ports edited for privacy :stuck_out_tongue: )

This means that the device that is trying to login erroneously is on your LAN.

indeed just tryed with my ipad …

I get an IP ban for my router also, maybe once a day. Then this prevents my mobile app from logging on. That’s how I find out about the IP ban. Clearing the IP ban does not fix the mobile app not working. The only thing that works is restarting HA.
Why is my router failing to login?
Why can my router log on most of the time but fail at random times?
What’s the solution to a router erroneously logging on sometimes?
I have a unifi udr, also using duckdns.
