###Update:
I rebooted my Pi and waited about an hour, and now Plex is showing up. It has a longer name than I’d given it, but I was watching the States page to see when or if it showed up.
###Original post:
I’m in the first week of transitioning from SmartThings to HA. So far, this is wonderful and I absolutely love it.
I’ve got a local Plex server which streams at home through two Rokus (one 3 and one Premiere). This works fine. I can also stream remotely on various mobile devices.
I’ll be darned, though, if I can get my plex server to show up in my HA instance:
But when I go to the States page, I can see the rokus but not the Plex server. Am I missing something? I’ve visited http://192.168.1.230:32400/?X-Plex-Token=REDACTED and got back a page of XML, so I’m confident that the network setup and the plex.conf are correct.
having the same issue, I would like to add that discovery is not bringing up the Configurator card in the overview page.
According to https://home-assistant.io/components/media_player.plex/ this should show up.
Other media players, such as Google cast devices do show up.
Any thoughts please ?
I’ve found that Plex won’t show up till it’s actually casting to something and not just playing on the local web browser. HA does detect mine and comes up with the config card, but nothing is shown in my media player group till it’s actually casting.
@keithh666 do you mean that the Plex Media Server (not a Plex Client such as Chromecast or web player) will only show up if you cast something from the server to a client ???
The server never shows up except to get the config token, very occasionally the chrome web player shows up when I’m playing something in it and if I cast a movie/tv prog to my chrome cast it will show up in the HA frontend
This is showing The 100 in the chrome server i/f but you wouldn’t know it
This is casting The 100 from the chrome server i/f to my chromecast
