I need some quick help. Where am I going wrong with this wiring for a Shelly 2 Plus PM? I am mocking up a light setup, and I cannot get this to work. Remove the Shelly from the path and the light switch operates. The device is also powering up and registering into the WiFi, so I haven’t managed to blow it yet!
This is the current wiring setup
This is the front side of the light switch, highlighting this is a momentary switch.
This is probably easier to show you how I have it wired. The wires coming in from the bottom of the image are from the mains. On the wall switch, I am actually using L2, not L1. It doesn’t appear to make a difference. I’ll change it to L1 shortly to make sure. [Edit - switching to L1 doesn’t make a difference]
Sorted. The ‘Live’ on the wall switch needs a permanent live. Also, the ‘Neutral’ I had wrongly interpreted as a neutral (marked as 01 on the Shelly) is actually the switched live. So it goes into the live input of the bulb. Then the output of that bulb, the neutral - connects into the mains neutral. All sorted and working as hoped.
Chris,
Did you ever take a photo of how you finally got your setup to work?
I’m trying the same thing right now!
I didn’t take a photo I’m afraid.
But take output 1 on the Shelly, marked 01. This is a live output, not neutral. It sends live power to the light, and then off the back of that light is a neutral connection.
It seems odd at first given the Shelly wiring notation, but when you think about the broader electrical setup, it should make sense.
Let me know on a DM if you need more help.
